Parks

There are six public parks within the Village: Memorial Park, Bridlewood Park, McFadyen Park, Lancaster Park, Veterans Park, and Community Center Park.

Memorial Park

Memorial Park stretches between the Obetz Government Center and the Street Department building, which is at the western end of Orchard Lane. The Obetz Athletic Club is located in Memorial Park. Memorial Park is also home to the Village's annual Zucchinifest.

With a total area of 80 acres, Memorial Park is the largest of all the existing parks. The park has a one-acre fishing pond stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. A gravel parking area is near the pond for your convenience. The park contains two basketball courts, three football/soccer fields, a softball/baseball complex, two concession stands, a children's play area with playground equipment and benches, as well as a large paved parking lot. Paved walking paths are located throughout the park. Dirt nature trails are located in the wooded area around the Columbus Crew Training Facility.

Bridlewood Park

Bridlewood Park is a six-acre park located along Bridlewood Blvd. The park contains a playground with a swing set, slide, spring toys, and climbing toys. The park also has a sand volleyball court and a shelter house with picnic tables and grills.

McFadyen Park

McFadyen Park is a three-acre park located along Jermoore Road. The park has swing sets and a climbing toy with slides. It also has a basketball court and a paved parking area.

Lancaster Park

Lancaster Park is a four-and-a-half-acre park located along Lancaster Street. It contains a shelter house, two basketball courts and a playground area with climbing toy, slides, spring toy, and a swing set. A new splashpad/ice rink will be constructed in Lancaster Park beginning in the spring of 2013.

Topiary Park

Topiary garden and visitor center with a lovely gift shop. A unique experience for everyone. A seven-acre park in downtown Columbus, Ohio; The Topiary Park is most famous for its topiary interpretation of Georges Seurat's famous Post-Impressionist painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grand Jatte. Visitors come from around the world to enjoy the unique experience of walking into and through a work of art. In addition to the topiary attraction, visitors will find beautifully landscaped walks, benches, picnic tables and a Visitors' Center. Admission is free, and the park is wheelchair accessible.

Hours

The park is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year.

Parking

Abundant on-street parking is available.

Buses may park on the north side of Town Street near the Visitors' Center.

Veterans Park

Veterans Park is a small half-acre park located along Groveport Road next to Lancaster Park. It contains a gazebo and benches. It also has several memorials to Obetz veterans.

Community Center Park

The Community Center Park is a three-acre park located at 1611 Chillicothe Street, next to the Community Center. The park contains a tennis court, playground equipment, spring toys, and swing set. The park also has a shelter house with picnic tables and grills. There is a small paved walking path and benches in the park as well as paved parking area.

Columbus Commons is a six-acre park in downtown Columbus with more than 240 programs and events each year. From large scale concerts and local bands to free fitness classes to family activities, Columbus Commons is a gathering place for the community.

Arnold Sports Festival

The Arnold Sports Festival, co-produced by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, is the largest multi-sport festival in the nation, during which the city welcomes more than 175,000 sports and fitness fans. The event features 18,000 athletes competing in 45 sports and events, including 12 Olympic sports. The three-day Arnold Fitness EXPO at the Greater Columbus Convention Center features more than 700 exhibit booths offering the latest in fitness apparel, equipment, training tools and nutrition.
